The Youth Ensemble of Atlanta serves metro-Atlanta youth from all walks of life. This is a rare opportunity for these talented Atlanta young people. This trip to China will allow these Atlanta youths to come face to face with rich new cultures and encourage them to become global thinkers. Founded in 1990, YEA has been providing young people with free performing arts training, as well as the opportunity to create issue-oriented musical dramas that tackle the challenges they face in the world around them. These productions have been performed for more than a million people on three continents representing the city of Atlanta with distinction and honors in major festivals in South Africa, Belgium and Holland. Most recently, YEA was honored by the highest office in the land, the White House, with the Coming Up Taller Award sponsored by the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
